How to Join

Why should my event become a member?
- Your event gets a voice and vote in rules and standards discussions.
- Your events are listed in the RFL Event Calendar
- Your event can send winners to RFL National Championship events.
- You event results can be listed in the RFL Results Database.
- More robots will be able to attend your event because you are using the
same tech regs as other events.
- You benefit from the collective experience and resources of all the
member organizations.
- Your event may be able to share costs and resources with other events.
- A league identity makes it easier to get event sponsors.

How do you become a member?
- Contact a local organizer and ask them
to sponsor your membership. Send them a proposal that outlines your
plans in as much detail as possible. Include arena specs, people involved,
dates for events, rules, etc.
- You will need to be voted in by 2/3's of the membership.
- As a new member you will be "provisional" until you have held your
first event, at which time you can request full membership. After
a satisfactory review of your event you will become a general member
with all the rights and privileges accorded general members.

What are the criteria for membership?
- You must read and abide by the RFL bylaws.
- You must have had or be seriously planning a robot combat event.
- You must support the mission of the RFL and be a responsive, courteous,
and responsible member.
- Your event will be required to use the Standard
Extensible Tech Regs.
- Your event will be required to submit its results to the central database
of event results.

What does membership cost?
- Membership is currently free
- In the future the RFL may use group buying power for many functions
and activities.
